Cranberry Compote

More versatile than your traditional Thanksgiving side dish, this compote can easily become a jam on your biscuit (hehe) or a topping for your poultry (if you swing that way). You can even top off your morning oatmeal with this baby! Don’t be surprised if this becomes a menu staple long after the turkey is gone.

Recipe:

Makes about 3 cups
Takes about 20 minutes

  • 12 oz cranberries

  • 1 tbsp orange zest (about 1 orange)

  • 1 c orange juice (I prefer juicing them myself for max flavor & healing benefits!)

  • 3/4 c maple syrup

  • 1 inch of ginger (keep whole)

  • 1 cinnamon stick (Trader Joe’s carries organic!) OR a dash of cinnamon powder

Place it all into a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove the ginger & cinnamon stick, discard. Use the side of the pot & a spoon to pop the cranberries so they break down.

Can serve warm or chilled! Great as a side dish, also amazing used like a jam to top a biscuit or your morning oatmeal.
